After psychiatric asylums, toxic exes, and Thai prisons, you stop expecting anything normal from NoLimit City. So we were genuinely surprised when they offered us a simple catfish trip on the Mississippi — almost relaxing, coming from them.
Almost. Because the fish in question has a mean mug, is dangling a cigarette, and stares at you with the kind of trustworthy expression you get from a used car salesman. Experts say its flesh is lean and boneless though, making it perfect to throw on the grill this summer.
The Catfish Hunters slot by NoLimit City was released in March 2026 and takes us to the banks of the Mississippi — as confirmed by the sign planted just outside the water, next to a duck fishing peacefully. The setting is submerged, the grid sits underwater, and you'll meet a family consisting of Stacy, Karen, Granny, Cletus, and Bubba, useful as Wilds. Forget fishing rods — this time we're using electrical frames to catch fish... it's the house method.
You play Catfish Hunters on a grid of 5 reels and 3 rows with 243 paylines. The RTP is 96.03% with high volatility and a win potential of up to 20,000x the bet. To take on the adventure, you'll need to bet between €0.20 and €100 per spin.
For low-value symbols, you get the classic 10, J, Q, K and A, all crafted out of driftwood as if they had been fished out of the riverbed. They pay between 0.10x and 0.45x the bet. For higher-value symbols, the Beefy Brew beer can, fishing lure, Wiggle & Jiggle worm box, landing net, and fishing rod pay between 0.30x and 5x the bet. The Wild can appear on the reels and substitutes for all paying symbols to help form winning combinations — though Wilds in Catfish Hunters have a special twist, as you're about to see.
Two mechanics are at the heart of Catfish Hunters gameplay: Fish symbols paired with Electrical Frames, and Impostor Wilds. These are complemented by xWays and three bonus levels with boosters and purchase options.
Fish & Electrical Frames
At the start of each spin, one or more Electrical Frames appear randomly on the grid. When one of these electric frames lands on a Fish symbol, it catches the fish and you win a prize equal to its value. Possible Fish values are 0.25x, 0.5x, 1x, 2x, 5x, 10x, 20x, and 100x. And here's where it gets interesting: each time a Fish is caught, the value of all remaining Fish symbols on the grid doubles. A global Fish multiplier displayed on the barrel in the top right of the screen shows the current level of this multiplier, which can go all the way up to x1,024.
xWays
xWays symbols can transform into any other symbol except the Bonus. They reveal regular paying symbols of size 2 to 4, or a Wild or a Fish of size 1. If multiple xWays appear on the reels at the same time, they all reveal the same symbol.
Impostor Wild
Impostor Wilds can land on any reel and randomly transform into one of the five family members, each with a different effect:
- Stacy Wild: increases the global Fish multiplier by 2, 4, or 8 at random.
- Karen Wild: adds Electrical Frames to her own position and all adjacent positions.
- Granny Wild: adds Electrical Frames to every position on the entire grid. Granny doesn't mess around.
- Cletus Wild: transforms all winning paying symbols into random Fish symbols.
- Bubba Wild: transforms all regular paying symbols into random Fish symbols. Not just the winning ones — all of them.
Hope to see Granny and Bubba together on the same spin. That can really hurt.
Dark Water Spins
Land 3 Bonus symbols to trigger 8 Dark Water Spins. Each additional Bonus symbol awards +1 spin. The global Fish multiplier from the base game is carried over into the bonus but will be halved at each new spin, with a minimum of x1. At trigger, one of the following 3 upgrades is randomly assigned:
- Upgraded Bonus: additional Bonus symbols award +2 spins instead of +1.
- Upgraded xWays: xWays only reveal Fish or Impostor Wilds.
- +1 Electrical Frame: a sticky Electrical Frame is added to the center of the grid.
Deep Water Spins
Land 4 Bonus symbols to trigger 10 Deep Water Spins. The mechanics are identical to Dark Water Spins except that 2 upgrades are randomly assigned instead of one.
Overcharged Spins
Land 5 Bonus symbols to trigger 12 Overcharged Spins. This time, all 3 upgrades are active simultaneously. The most generous mode, naturally.
Extra Spin
When a spin ends, it is sometimes possible to purchase an additional spin. This extra spin keeps the Electrical Frames and the global Fish multiplier from the previous spin. The offer only appears if the cost of the Extra Spin is less than or equal to the total win. Bonus symbols will not appear during this spin, and only Karen or Granny Wilds can add new Electrical Frames.
Nolimit Booster
As often with NoLimit City, several boosters are available for an additional bet per spin:
- Bonus Booster: for 3x the bet, a Bonus symbol is guaranteed on the second reel.
- Grand Catch: for 90x the bet, a minimum of 1 Impostor Wild is guaranteed and only Fish symbols worth 10x, 20x, and 100x can appear.
- Legend Catch: for 2,000x the bet, a minimum of 2 Impostor Wilds is guaranteed and only 100x Fish can appear.
- Fishy Spins x8: for 5x the bet, the global Fish multiplier starts at x8.
- Fishier Spins x128: for 60x the bet, the global Fish multiplier starts at x128.
- Fishiest Spins x1024: for 400x the bet, the global Fish multiplier starts directly at x1,024.
Bonus Buy
If you prefer to cut straight to the action, here are the available purchase options:
- For 70x the bet, buy 8 Dark Water Spins.
- For 600x the bet, buy 12 Overcharged Spins.
- For 235x the bet, activate the Lucky Draw (50% chance of getting Dark Water Spins, 25% for Deep Water Spins, and 25% for Overcharged Spins).
Fish up to 20,000x the bet in the Mississippi!
Catfish Hunters is a relatively tame addition to the NoLimit City catalog, and that might be precisely what makes it refreshing. In the fishing game category, the studio didn't have many titles to its name. The one that comes to mind most is Ugliest Catch, but here the fishing spot is far better maintained, less grimy, and full of catfish rather than debris... though there is still a skeleton at the bottom of the river, for the detail-oriented.
The wins rely mostly on Fish symbols boosted by the global multiplier that can reach x1,024, and the Impostor Wilds play a key role since they can increase that multiplier, create more Fish, or add Electrical Frames to the grid — which can lead to some seriously big catches. The mechanics are also less straightforward than they first appear, and that's what makes the game genuinely interesting once you take the time to dive in.
