Red Rascal Slot - Hacksaw Gaming

Still think of fairgrounds as fun places with cotton candy, bumper cars, and a peaceful Ferris wheel? Think again — a mischievous little devil has decided to boot out the carnival folk and seize control of the rides! Hacksaw Gaming grants us access to this diabolical park in the Red Rascal slot, leaving us free to decide whether we have just walked through the gates of hell or simply stumbled into the devil's personal playground.

Once the game launches, you are plunged into the Rubber Hose animation style typical of early American cartoons from the 1920s, with their elastic, bendy characters. Hacksaw had already explored this look in several titles, most recently Pray For Three — though here the palette is richer while still carrying that slightly faded, grainy quality with the visual static that evokes worn-out old film reels. It is a light cartoon horror, more slapstick than scary — the kind you get from a slightly run-down, poorly-maintained fairground that somehow still retains a certain charm. To the left of the grid, our little horned Red Rascal holds out a wad of cash with a smirk that says everything about his intentions. Around him, chubby ghosts, rickety roller coasters, and bizarre clowns join his party for an evening full of surprises.

As for the setup, Red Rascal is played on a 5x5 grid with 19 paylines. Volatility is high, the RTP reaches 96.34%, and the maximum win is capped at 15,000x the bet. You can wager between €0.10 and €50 per spin to join the little demon in his world.

Wins form from left to right starting from the leftmost reel, with 3, 4, or 5 identical symbols aligned. Low-value symbols are the classic A, K, Q, J and 10 in a bubbly cartoon style, paying between 0.40x and 1.50x the bet. Premium symbols include the blue cross-marked potion, the mustachioed magician's head, the purple book, the eye pyramid, and the little red-eyed ghost, paying between 1x and 10x the bet for a five-symbol combination. The Wild — a flaming star — substitutes for all paying symbols and can pay up to 20x the bet for 5 aligned symbols.

Red Rascal's gameplay features a Respin mode triggered by Rascal symbols, alternating between two modes via a pendulum: Coin Mode and Wild Mode. Three bonus rounds and multiple purchase options complete the picture.

Rascal Respin Mode
When 3 or more Rascal symbols land on the same spin, they become sticky and trigger a Respin after wins are paid. During the Respin, only Rascal symbols and Dead symbols (which have no effect) can appear. Any new Rascal symbols that land during the Respin also become sticky, and the sequence continues as long as new Rascals keep appearing or positions remain available.

When Rascal symbols form a 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, or 5x5 square, they merge into a Colossal Rascal symbol. If a 5x5 Colossal Rascal is formed, the Max Win is immediately awarded.

As soon as a Respin starts, a Pendulum appears outside the grid with two possible modes: Coins and Wild. The pendulum swings between modes on each Respin, and the one selected at the end of the sequence is the one that activates.

Coin Mode
When Coin Mode activates, all Rascal and Colossal Rascal symbols on the grid transform into coins. Coins are paid as a multiple of the bet across three value tiers: bronze coins are worth between 0.2x and 4x, silver coins between 5x and 20x, and gold coins between 25x and 500x the bet.

Each Colossal Coin combines its coin value with an additional multiplier. Colossal Coins 2x2 have a minimum value of 5x with a multiplier of up to 100x, 3x3 ones start at 10x with the same multiplier ceiling, and 4x4 ones begin at 25x with the same range. Both values are multiplied together to determine the final reward.

Wild Mode
When Wild Mode activates, all Rascal and Colossal Rascal symbols on the grid transform into Wilds. Colossal Wilds receive an additive multiplier ranging from 2x up to 100x depending on their size. Once the transformation is complete, a regular spin fires where the Wilds remain sticky while the other symbols spin to form new winning combinations. If multiple Colossal Wilds contribute to the same winning combination, their values are added before being applied to the win.

Ready To Riot
Land 3 FS Scatter symbols at the same time in the base game to trigger this bonus with 8 Free Spins. The base game mechanics are preserved with an increased likelihood of Rascal symbols appearing on the grid. Landing 2 or 3 additional FS symbols during the bonus awards +2 or +4 Free Spins.

After Dark
With 4 FS Scatter symbols, you access this bonus with 10 Free Spins. The mechanics remain identical, but a new element is added: if fewer than 3 Rascal symbols land on a spin, they are saved in a Popcorn Bucket placed beside the grid until the end of the bonus. On the last Free Spin, all saved Rascals are added to the grid, and if 3 or more appear, a Respin sequence is triggered. The maximum number of symbols that can be stored in the bucket is 25.

Hidden Epic Bonus: Ignite The Night
Land 5 FS Scatter symbols to trigger this hidden bonus with 10 Free Spins. At least 4 Rascal symbols are guaranteed on every Free Spin, and the Pendulum stays visible throughout the entire bonus, alternating between its two modes each spin. On every Free Spin, the Pendulum activates and transforms all present Rascals according to the selected mode. Respins are not triggered in this bonus.

Up to 15,000x the bet on the devil's playground
Red Rascal is a slot that plays cleverly on unpredictability, and it is the pendulum's alternation between Coin Mode and Wild Mode that keeps the suspense alive through every Respin sequence. It is hard to say which you prefer... when Coin Mode hits, you are hoping for gold values that climb fast, and when it lands on Wild, those additive multipliers are just as appealing in the end. The Colossal symbols are another major highlight — whether they transform into coins or Wilds, they come with multipliers up to 100x, which can go a long way toward building a solid win. It all plays out inside a slightly lopsided fairground — a theme we have seen before, but rarely with a mischievous little devil at the controls, seemingly delighting in watching you try to tame his broken rides.
