Rage of Egypt, released in July 2026, is a Hacksaw Gaming exclusive reserved for just a handful of operators. The game is built on the same framework as Hand of Anubis, first introduced four years earlier and still among the studio's greatest achievements. That title launched Hacksaw's series of dark Egypt-themed games, continued with Cursed Crypt, Wings of Horus, and most recently Sand and Ashes. We are heading back to join the guardian of the necropolises in the afterlife, playing with progressive multipliers created by the appearance of orbs and winning clusters.
Two half-human, half-jackal mummified creatures, cracked with red fissures, flank a grid set like the facade of a tomb.
The Rage of Egypt grid features 5 reels and 6 rows and runs on Cluster Pays with cascades, meaning every winning cluster disappears and lets new symbols drop in. The RTP is announced at 97.49% — well above the studio's usual standards — volatility stays high, the maximum win climbs to 10,000x the bet, and bets range from €0.10 to €100 per spin.
The pay table is deliberately skipped over here because it is identical to Hand of Anubis, with stone-carved runes for the low-value symbols, colored gem-studded amulets for the premium symbols, and the red ankh at the very top. You need at least 5 connected identical symbols to collect a prize.
The rest of the gameplay rests on three pillars: the base game orbs, then two bonus rounds.
Soul Orbs
The base game features two orbs — one red and one blue. On each new spin, there is a chance one, both, or neither will appear. Both act as Wilds and can substitute for any paying symbol, but their real role is to absorb the energy of clusters formed during the spin to build up a multiplier that applies to all wins they contribute to.
The distinction between the two matters more than it might seem. The red orb gains 1x for every symbol in each winning cluster; the blue orb gains 1x for each cluster. The red rewards large clusters; the blue rewards long cascade sequences with many small groups. If both connect to the same winning cluster, their multipliers do not add — they multiply each other. The counters reset on every new spin, so everything plays out within a single cascade sequence.
Underworld
Three Free Spins Scatter symbols trigger this bonus with 10 Free Spins. The base game's paying symbols are still there, joined by a green orb and a multiplier modifier symbol. A multiplier is displayed below each reel and climbs by 1x for every winning symbol on the corresponding reel — with the modifier able to multiply it further by x2, x3, x4, x5, or x10, up to a maximum of 9,999 per reel.
These multipliers remain dormant until activated, and it is the green orb that does the job by landing on a reel. Once activated, they become global: their values are added together and multiply every winning cluster, regardless of where it forms. Each activation also awards 3 additional spins — meaning the bonus extends itself at precisely the moment it becomes profitable.
Judgment
Four Scatters open a completely different bonus with 3 lives that reset. The regular symbols disappear, replaced by blocks, and the multipliers are now displayed above the reels. They increase through multiplier blocks: skulls add 1x to 100x, Anubis skulls multiply by x2 to x10, and each exists in a regular version that only affects the reel it lands on, or an Epic version that affects all multipliers.
When an ice block lands on the grid, it is shattered and a multiplier block descends from the counter above the reel to take its place, carrying the value shown on that counter. These blocks stack at the bottom of the grid and progressively fill it. There is also a destroyer block that sweeps through everything, demolishing multiplier blocks in its path, then transforms into a single block worth the sum of everything it just erased. Every block that lands resets the counter to 3 lives; three consecutive spins without any block and the bonus ends. The final payout equals the sum of all blocks present multiplied by the bet — clusters play no role in this mode whatsoever.
Feature Buy
Two purchases are offered: Underworld for 129x the bet, listed as very high volatility, and Judgment for 200x the bet, listed as high volatility.
The same Anubis, repainted in red
The shift from Hand of Anubis to Rage of Egypt is mostly a palette swap — the cool bluish tones have been replaced with blood red. Beyond that, the orbs, the per-reel multipliers, the structure of both bonuses — everything is identical. This is a re-release aimed at a select group of operators, and no one will find a meaningful difference from the original, which is available wherever Hacksaw Gaming titles can be found.
That said, the copy holds up because the original was well built. The split between the two base game orbs is more nuanced than a simple decorative pair — it creates two opposite ways of getting paid within the same sequence, and the fact that their values multiply rather than add makes spins where both land together wildly disproportionate to everything else. Underworld pushes the logic further with its separation of accumulation and activation: the counters can climb very high without paying out anything if the green orb never shows up, but each activation extends the bonus, turning those ten opening spins into an elastic duration. Judgment flips the mechanic entirely — combinations are set aside and you fill a reservoir instead, while the destroyer block introduces an interesting hesitation since it wipes in order to concentrate. The 10,000x ceiling may feel a touch low when a single reel can theoretically display 9,999, but it is the cap itself that limits the game, not the mechanic.
The RTP of 97.49% is generous and may be the only concrete argument for preferring this version over the original — if you get the chance to play it at one of the exclusive operators.
